The Spire rises from the central massif of the Celestial-Kordilleren, dwarfing its neighbouring peaks by an enormous margin. Its lower slopes are ringed by ancient pools in which Time-Turtles float in near-perfect stillness, and fields of Temporal Moss grow in reverse chronological order across the surrounding rock. The summit is invisible from below for most of the year, hidden inside a slow-drifting aureole of time-distorted cloud that glows silver-blue even in full daylight.

The Spire's temporal envelope creates a microclimate unlike any other in Landorya. Storms that sweep across the Kordilleren pass over the Spire in what feels, from within, like slow motion, each lightning strike visible as a sustained luminous thread for several seconds. Snow falls upward near the summit on certain nights, drawn by spatial harmonics that invert local gravity in a narrow band just below the peak.

In the cosmological account preserved in the Codices of Harmony, Chronos drove the first temporal stake of existence into the formless void at the precise location where the Spire now stands, establishing past, present, and future as distinct conditions. Every subsequent age of Landorya, from the First Era of Harmony through the Great Dissonance and the Age of Restoration, has been calibrated against the Spire's unchanging resonance frequency as a reference point. The Celestial Order has maintained continuous observation of the Spire since Elandros' time.

A persistent story, never confirmed nor denied by the Order, holds that the Celestial Chronos itself resides in semi-dormant form inside the Spire's crystalline core, and that the temporal slowing at the summit is not a passive consequence of stored energy but an exhalation of the sleeping god's dreaming breath. Scholars who have attempted to drill core samples from the upper Spire have universally reported that their equipment simply ceases to function above a certain altitude, not breaking, but pausing, as though time has decided that further progress is unnecessary.

Permanent habitation near the Spire is restricted to the small cadre of Celestial Order monks assigned to the Chronos Sanctum situated on a sheltered ledge partway up the southern face. These scholars spend years in time-stretched meditation, a single hour inside the envelope affording what feels subjectively like half a day of uninterrupted study. The wildlife around the base, particularly the Time-Turtles, are under absolute protection; their shells are inscribed with natural temporal markings that Star-Readers use to date geological strata in the surrounding mountains.
