Physical: One of the oldest living Aetherians, Voryn's skin luminescence has deepened over nearly four centuries into a pattern that most practitioners have never seen — not a glow but a genuine light, steady and clear as starlight through crystal, with the quality of something that has been doing a single thing for a very long time. His eyes are pure white with no visible iris boundary, a result of sustained Aether-Wyrm communion that altered the optical structure of both eyes permanently. He moves slowly and seems to take up more space than his physical form accounts for.
Clothing: A single, ancient Veil-Silk robe that has been repaired so many times it is mostly repair; he has been offered new robes so often that Luminara's textile practitioners have stopped offering. He carries no instruments.
Distinguishing Marks: His sigil-markings are the most complex documented in the living Order — a complete lattice covering every visible surface of skin in notation so intricate that studying his arms constitutes a graduate-level course in aetheric inscription that the Star-Academy has offered for sixty years.

Backstory
Voryn achieved Aether-Wyrm communion at the age of two hundred and nine — the first practitioner to do so in over a century and the last to do so since. The communion lasted, by external measurement, fourteen hours; by Voryn's internal perception, it lasted significantly longer and contained information he has been processing since. He retired from his Star-Sage seat at two hundred and fifty, not from decline but from the specific judgment that his ongoing work required a form of sustained attention incompatible with institutional governance. He has lived in the Veil Nexus since, occupying a chamber close to the deepest ley-line convergence access point, conducting a form of research he describes as 'listening' that produces, intermittently, observations he presents at the Forum of Luminaries in sessions that practitioners attend in their entirety and then spend weeks debating. His last Forum presentation, thirty-two years ago, described a structure at the base of the ley-line convergence network that no existing instrument has been able to verify independently.
Daily Life
Voryn does not maintain a schedule. He sits near the deep convergence access point for periods of varying length, eating when the Veil Nexus kitchen sends food, sleeping when he chooses, and speaking when someone comes to him with a question he considers worth answering. He is visited by more senior practitioners than his nominal absence from the Order's institutional structure would suggest — Arch-Luminary Aelindra visited three years ago and spent four hours in conversation that she has not described to anyone. Junior practitioners are occasionally sent to him by their masters with specific questions; he answers approximately sixty percent of them and redirects the remaining forty to different questions they had not thought to ask.
Secret
The Aether-Wyrm Voryn communed with gave him information he has shared with no one: the ley-line network beneath the Astral Plateau is not a natural phenomenon. It was constructed, in a period before the Order's founding, by something whose nature the Wyrm could not fully characterize except to note that it was not Aetherian. The network runs deeper than any Order instrument has ever measured and the deepest levels are still active in ways that the surface readings do not reflect. The structure at the base he described in his last Forum presentation is a door. He does not know what is on the other side because he decided, at the moment of communion, not to ask.

Voryn is the Order's oldest living practitioner and its closest approach to an oracle — the figure who achieved the highest spiritual accomplishment of Aetherian tradition and returned with the knowledge that the ground the Order is built on was placed there deliberately. He provides access to Aether-Wyrm communion mechanics, the deepest ley-line mystery in the setting, and the cosmological scope that every other NPC in the Order operates below.
