Social Structure & Interaction
Social Hierarchy
The Elemental Kingdoms maintain a meritocratic hierarchy:
| Tier | Title | Role |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Primarch | Supreme ruler of a kingdom; steward of the Primordial Seed. |
| 2 | High Ministers | Heads of the five core ministries (Balance, Ley-Line Management, Arcane Research, Defense, Diplomacy). |
| 3 | Council Members | Elected members of the Council of Confluence. |
| 4 | Wardens | Regional governors of sub-realms. |
| 5 | Guild Masters | Leaders of professional guilds. |
| 6 | Senior Elementals | Experienced Elementals with significant contributions. |
| 7 | Citizens | All other sentient Elementals. |
| 8 | Bonded Citizens | Mortals with Elemental Attunement Seals. |
Social Mobility
Advancement is based entirely on merit, demonstrated through:
- Resonance Exams - Standardized tests of elemental knowledge, practical skill, and ethical judgment.
- Service Records - Contributions to the community (e.g., ley-line maintenance, crisis response, scholarly achievements).
- Peer Recognition - Endorsements from senior Elementals or guild masters.
There is no hereditary privilege. A newly birthed Elemental begins as a Citizen regardless of its parent-contributors' status.
Inter-Kingdom Relations
- Formal Diplomacy - Managed by the Council of Confluence and the Diplomatic Ministry.
- Informal Bonds - Cross-kingdom friendships, mentorships, and even Resonance Partnerships (deep empathic bonds between Elementals of different elements) are common and encouraged.
- Tensions - Historical rivalries (Earth vs. Water, Fire vs. Air) linger as cultural biases but rarely escalate beyond heated debate at Council sessions.
Treatment of Outsiders
- Mortal Visitors - Welcome but regulated. All visitors must carry an Elemental Attunement Band and adhere to local laws.
- Uninvited Intruders - Dealt with firmly but non-lethally; the Equilibrium Guard typically escorts trespassers to the nearest portal exit.
- Hostile Entities - Planar invaders, Void-corrupted beings, or rogue mages are met with full military force.
