The Naiad day is structured around the rhythm of currents rather than solar time, though they acknowledge sunrise and sunset as transitional markers.

Housing & Domestic Life

  • Dwelling Types: Float-Reed houses on river surfaces, Under-Lake dome apartments, Crystal-Cave alcoves in subterranean settlements.
  • Furnishings: Water-glass tables, Lumen-Reed lamps, Drift-Hammocks woven from silk-moss, Current-Mirrors (reflective water surfaces that double as communication screens via the Ripple Net).
  • Household Rituals: Each morning, families pour a cup of water from their home spring into a communal bowl, symbolizing shared purpose. Each evening, the bowl is returned to the spring.

Clothing & Jewelry

  • Garments: Silk-Moss robes that absorb and retain moisture, keeping the wearer comfortable both in and out of water. Colors vary by clan—emerald for river clans, sapphire for lake clans, opalescent pearl for spring clans.
  • Jewelry: Lumen-Crystal pendants, Aquascript-engraved bracelets, hair-filament weaves of bioluminescent algae.
  • Armor: Runic-plated cuirasses and Hydro-Lattice gauntlets for military Naiads; ceremonial armor features intricate Current-Calligraphy.

Childhood & Upbringing

  • Sproutlings (ages 0-50) are raised communally by a Spring Circle—a group of adults responsible for a cohort of young Naiads.
  • Early education focuses on swimming, basic water-magic, and the oral traditions of the clan.
  • At age 100, Sproutlings undergo the First Merge—their initial full immersion into a body of water, during which they experience their first water-memory and discover their elemental affinity.
