Secondary Fauna

  • Crystal Dragonflies: Tiny, jewel-like insects that feed on Lumen-Reed nectar; their wing patterns are studied for aerodynamic insights.
  • Deepwater Eels: Enormous eels inhabiting the lowest aquifers; rarely seen, revered as guardians of the deep. Some Echo Sages claim to communicate with them.
  • Cascade Frogs: Amphibians whose croaking harmonizes with waterfall resonance; used by Aqua-Healers as diagnostic aids (their croaking changes pitch in the presence of water contamination).
  • Silver Otters: Playful, intelligent mammals that Naiad children befriend; often seen accompanying young Sproutlings during swimming lessons.

Familiars & Magical Bond

A Naiad's Familiar is typically a River Serpent or Mist-Hawk with whom they have completed a Deep Bond—a prolonged merge during which both parties share water-memories. The bond grants:

  • Shared sensory perception (the Naiad can see through the familiar's eyes and vice versa).
  • Empathic communication across distances linked by water.
  • Enhanced magical potency when working in concert—a bonded Naiad and River Serpent can manipulate currents far beyond either's individual ability.
