Misthollow Grove occupies the southwestern sector of the Eldris Forest where the terrain drops toward the mist-touched shores near the Shimmering Isles. The land is lower here than elsewhere in the forest, and the underlying geology contains extensive karst formations through which the underground springs that create the persistent mist flow. The tree species of Misthollow tend toward those adapted to high moisture and lower light — willows, alders, and ancient mossy specimens of species found nowhere else.

The perpetual mist is Misthollow Grove's defining climatic feature — a dense, cool vapor that rarely dissipates entirely even in high summer and thickens dramatically at night and during autumn.
