Geography
The archipelago consists of hundreds of island fragments ranging from bare rock outcroppings to masses large enough to support sparse vegetation. Many fragments still bear the clean shear-marks of the original tearing, geometric fractures cutting across rock strata that should be continuous. Spatial anomalies are common: distances between islands shift unpredictably, and compasses become unreliable within fifty leagues of the archipelago's heart. The Celestial Order maintains Starwatch Citadel near the archipelago's edge specifically to monitor the sealed Entropic Rift within.
Climate
Perpetual storms circle the Shattered Isles, generated partly by natural oceanic conditions and partly by the energy released as planar rifts open and close. Lightning in the archipelago occasionally arcs horizontally, jumping from rift-edge to rift-edge in colours outside the normal visible spectrum. Sailors who have traversed the archipelago report periods of eerie calm at the centre, a silence so complete that they could hear their own pulse, broken without warning by spatial displacement events that deposit flotsam from unknown locations.

History
Prior to the Celestial Schism, the land that is now the Shattered Isles formed a continuous coastal region connected to the north-eastern mainland. The internal war between Celestials, Chronos and Nous against Aether, Terra, and Pyrope, released energies so vast that entire continental sections were displaced. When the victorious coalition restored harmony, they chose to leave the Shattered Isles as a permanent memorial rather than repairing the coastline, reasoning that the visibility of cosmic consequences would serve as the most effective deterrent against future violations of the Balancing Edict.
Legend & Lore
Sailors who have navigated the archipelago's interior return with accounts of ghost islands that appear and disappear, bearing the architectural ruins of civilizations that cannot be found anywhere in Landorya's historical record. The most detailed and consistent account, repeated across cultures over many centuries, describes a large island visible only in the hour before dawn, covered in the crystalline spires of a city built in a style that predates any known mortal construction. Celestial Order scholars who have examined these accounts suggest the ghost islands may be fragments of the Hollow Meridians, remnants of prior cosmoses that were folded into the seam when the Schism tore reality open.
Life & Culture
Permanent habitation of the Shattered Isles is officially discouraged by the Celestial Order and practically inadvisable given the environmental instability. A small population of reclusive scholars and rift-researchers operates from the calmer outer islands, under Order licence and Balance-Warden supervision. The archipelago's wildlife is uniquely adapted: Ætherial Herons walk on the luminous tidal residue left by closing rifts, their feathers having developed a spatial-resistance property that prevents them from being inadvertently displaced. Void Moths are abundant here, their Entropic absorption making them near-constant presences wherever rift activity is high.
