Physical Characteristics

2.1 Appearance & Build

AspectDescription
Appearance & BuildFey appear as slender, luminescent humanoids whose skin shimmers with the colors of dawn and dusk. Their eyes are pools of liquid starlight; hair ranges from silvery moon-beams to deep-forest green, often adorned with living blossoms that bloom and wilt with their mood. Their bodies are mutable: a Fey can subtly alter height, limb length, or even adopt animal features for brief periods, a manifestation of their innate illusion magic.

2.2 Distinguishing Marks

AspectDescription
Distinguishing Marks- Twilight Veins: faint, silver-blue veins that pulse when a Fey channels magic. - Glimmering Wings: not true wings but ethereal membranes of light that appear when they are in a heightened emotional state. - Aura of Dusk: a soft, ambient glow that makes the surrounding foliage appear perpetually bathed in twilight. - Mood-Blossoms: the living flowers woven into a Fey's hair change species and color in response to emotional shifts; a seasoned observer can read a Fey's disposition from their crown alone.

2.3 Lifespan & Reproduction

AspectDescription
Lifespan & ReproductionFey are effectively immortal; they age only when they choose to, often shedding a century's worth of experience in a single twilight ritual. Reproduction is consensual and magical: a pair of Fey may merge their essences in a "Twilight Confluence," birthing a new fey who inherits blended traits. The process can take years, as the child gestates within a pocket-dimension garden of dreams, nourished by moon-light and the collective will of the Court.

2.4 Sensory Perception

AspectDescription
Sensory PerceptionFey possess triple-spectrum sight (visible, infrared, and auras), enhanced hearing that can parse the whispers of leaves, and taste that can discern the "flavor" of magic. They also sense the "Weave" - the underlying lattice of illusion and nature that underpins all of Landorya. Elder Fey develop a sixth sense called Veil-Touch, an ability to feel disturbances in the Weave through their skin, even across great distances.

2.5 Physical Limits & Vulnerabilities

AspectDescription
Physical LimitsWhile physically fragile compared to dragons, Fey compensate with speed, agility, and the ability to become incorporeal for seconds. Their bodies can be harmed by pure daylight, anti-illusion fields, or true-name weapons. Prolonged exposure to environments devoid of ambient magic — such as the deep interior of certain mortal cities — causes a condition called Veil-Fade, where a Fey's luminescence dims, their senses dull, and their illusion magic stutters. Recovery requires immersion in a Nexus Grove for several days.

2.6 Subtypes & Variation

Not all Fey are identical in physiology. Three broad phenotypic clusters are recognized, though individuals may blend traits:

  • Grove-Fey — the most common type; average height, skin tones ranging from pale silver to warm amber, hair in earth and forest tones. They favor woodland habitats and excel at Root-Resonance.
  • Mist-Fey — slightly taller and more translucent, with blue-grey skin and hair like spider-silk. They dwell in the Silver-Mist Marshes and Crystal-Veil Caves and are naturally gifted in Chrono-Mist magic.
  • Star-Fey — rare, ethereal individuals whose skin is nearly transparent and dotted with pinpoints of inner light resembling constellations. They congregate on the Floating Luminant Islands and possess the strongest Dream-Weaving abilities.
