Geography
The Forest Border Agreement Marker stands at the eastern edge of the Ash-Vein Plains where the terrain transitions from open volcanic grassland to the dense canopy of the Stone-Forest. The clearing around the marker is maintained deliberately — trees and undergrowth kept back by a hundred meters on either side — to ensure the stone is visible from both the Orcish Iron-Road approach and the Elven forest-path approach.
Climate
The border clearing sits in a transitional climate zone: the drier, hotter conditions of the Ash-Vein Plains on the western side grade into the cooler, moister microclimate of the Stone-Forest on the eastern side. Seasonal fog from the forest frequently rolls across the clearing in early morning, and mixed Orc-Elf patrol teams have learned to meet before the fog lifts to avoid misidentification incidents.

History
The Forest Border Agreement formalized the latest of many ceasefires in the Sylvan Skirmishes, a series of border conflicts running from approximately 1150 AR to the present. Earlier agreements were informal and frequently violated; the current arrangement, secured through Council of the Green Stone mediation, includes the physical marker as a magical anchor point — the Stone-Bound Oath inscribed on it creates a minor runic deterrent effect that causes oath-breakers to experience pronounced discomfort when crossing the designated line. The Orcish goal of forging a full Treaty of the Iron Heart with the Elves remains the next step beyond this interim arrangement.
Legend & Lore
Both Orcs and Elves claim the clearing existed before either civilization reached the forest edge — an ancient neutral ground maintained by some older power. Stone-Keepers report that runic monitoring equipment behaves erratically within the clearing, showing readings consistent with dormant earth-magic far older than Orcish runic tradition, and Elven seers are said to refuse to discuss what their own sensing reveals about the ground beneath it.
