Geography
Located at the base of Kragthar Hold's outer defensive ring, the Import Goods yard sits where the Ironspine Trail broadens into a cobbled loading square. The yard is surrounded on three sides by basalt storage halls and on the fourth by the outer wall's gatehouse, through which all foreign goods must pass under the inspection of Iron Legion gate-guards.
Climate
Sheltered by Kragthar Hold's cliff-face on the north, the Import Goods yard enjoys calmer winds than the city's upper ramparts, though winter snows driven in from the Iron-Vein Range can halt overland deliveries for weeks at a time. Heated stone channels beneath the yard floor prevent ice formation on the loading surfaces.

History
The formalization of the Import Goods receiving process dates to the Iron-Dwarf Accord of 1023 AR, which established standardized inspection protocols to prevent tariff disputes. Before the Accord, incoming goods were assessed by whoever happened to be on gate duty, leading to inconsistent taxation and several near-conflicts with Dwarven merchants who disputed the valuations. The Frostborn Winter-Trade agreement of 1102 AR, negotiated by Dasha Iron-Tongue, added a dedicated ice-stone and winter-fur holding bay that remains in use each winter season.
Legend & Lore
Customs officers of the Import Goods yard tell a story about a Fey merchant who attempted to smuggle enchanted textiles through the yard by concealing them as mundane grain sacks. The Stone-Glyph logging tablet is said to have spontaneously inscribed the word 'deception' in glowing red runes beside the merchant's entry, before any officer had examined the cargo. The merchant was escorted out, the fabric confiscated, and the tablet still carries a faint reddish tint at that particular line.
