Daily Life

11.1 Architecture and Living Spaces

The daily life of the Sylvan Elves is intimately connected to their environment. They reside in tree-homes, exquisitely crafted structures harmoniously integrated with the living trees of the Eldar Forest. These homes, built high among the branches, are designed to coexist with the forest, causing no harm to the trees. The architecture blends aesthetics with functionality, ensuring that their presence enhances rather than diminishes the natural beauty of their surroundings.

11.2 Typical Daily Schedule

  • Dawn (Greensong Hour)
Elves rise with the first light filtering through the canopy. The day begins with the Greensong, a communal singing to the trees and plants, infusing them with positive energy and encouraging their growth. A light meal of forest fruits, honeycomb, and herbal infusions follows.
  • Morning (Learning and Craft)
Young elves attend lessons at the Grove of Learning or apprentice with a master herbalist, archer, or Greenspeaker. Adults tend to their crafts, gather herbs, or patrol as Rangers.
  • Midday (Community and Rest)
The hottest part of the day is spent in the cool shade of the lower canopy. Communal meals are shared, stories are exchanged, and elders hold open council for those seeking guidance.
  • Afternoon (Service and Magic)
Rangers patrol the forest borders. Healers tend to the sick. Moonweavers prepare enchantments for the evening. Greenspeakers commune with the trees, relaying messages and checking on the forest's health.
  • Evening (Song and Story)
As twilight descends, the elves gather in the Songwood or in family groups for music, storytelling, and dance. The forest comes alive with bioluminescent light.
  • Night (Vigil and Dream)
Sentinels take watch in the canopy. The Moonlit Falls and the Moonlit Pool become sites of quiet meditation and moon magic practice. Elves sleep in hammocks of woven silk and living vine, lulled by the forest's nightsong.

11.3 Proficiency in Herbalism and Healing

Sylvan Elves are renowned for their deep knowledge of herbalism. Their understanding of the medicinal properties of plants and herbs is unparalleled, passed down through generations and refined with each passing year. This expertise extends beyond healing remedies to encompass nutrition and sustenance, as they skillfully utilize the bounty of the forest.

11.4 Nature-Based Magic and Archery

Magic for the Sylvan Elves is a natural extension of their being. Their magic is deeply rooted in nature, used primarily for nurturing the forest, healing, and protection. Archery is practiced not just as a means of defense but as a disciplined art form, honed from a young age. The bow is revered as much for its artistic significance as for its utility.

11.5 Interaction with Wildlife

The Sylvan Elves have a unique relationship with the wildlife of the Eldar Forest. They live in close proximity to various creatures, both mundane and mystical, and this coexistence is marked by mutual respect and understanding. They have the ability to communicate with forest animals to a certain extent, further enhancing their bond with the natural world.
