Physical Characteristics

2.1 Appearance and Build

The Sylvan Elves are ethereal beings whose physical forms mirror the elegance and grace of the forest, with features that echo its beauty. They are tall and agile, with sharp, refined features that speak of an ancient lineage shaped by millennia of symbiosis with the Eldar Forest.

Sylvan Elves stand between 5 ft 10 in and 6 ft 6 in (1.78
1.98 m), with slender, willowy frames built for speed and agility among the treetops. Their movements are fluid and nearly silent, as though they were extensions of the wind itself. Lean muscle is distributed evenly, granting them remarkable endurance for traversing the forest canopy, scaling ancient trees, and drawing longbows for extended periods. Their build favors dexterity and precision over raw strength.

2.2 Distinctive Traits

Their eyes reflect the depth of ancient woods, ranging from emerald green to deep amber and silver-gray, often possessing a faint luminous quality in low light
an adaptation to the dappled shade of the forest floor. Hair cascades like waterfalls in shades of silver-white, deep chestnut, autumn gold, and midnight black, frequently adorned with woven leaves, wildflower sprigs, or braids threaded with spider silk. Their skin carries the soft hues of forest dawns
pale ivory, warm honey, or dusk-touched bronze
and appears to shimmer faintly in moonlight. Ears are elongated and gently tapered, highly sensitive to the subtlest sounds of the forest. Their fingers are long and nimble, ideal for herbalism, bowcraft, and the delicate weaving of Sylvan magic.

2.3 Lifespan and Reproduction

Sylvan Elves live extraordinarily long lives, commonly reaching 800 to 1,200 years, with the most ancient Lorekeepers rumored to have seen 1,500 winters. Maturity occurs around age 60, and elves typically bear 1 to 3 children over the course of their lifetime, with births spaced decades apart. Each birth is considered a sacred event, celebrated by the entire community with song and the planting of a companion tree that will grow alongside the child. The low birth rate is balanced by their extraordinary longevity and by the deep cultural emphasis on nurturing each individual to their fullest potential.

2.4 Attunement to Nature

A unique trait of the Sylvan Elves is their physiological connection to the Eldar Forest. Their heartbeat is said to synchronize with the pulse of the Great Oak, and prolonged separation from the forest causes a condition known as the Fading
a gradual dimming of vitality, magical ability, and spirit. This bond means that the health of the forest and the health of its elves are inseparable.

2.5 Senses and Perception

Beyond their luminous eyesight, Sylvan Elves possess hearing far sharper than that of any human
they can detect the snap of a twig at three hundred paces and distinguish individual birdsong from a chorus of hundreds. Their sense of smell is refined enough to identify hundreds of plant species by scent alone, a skill integral to herbalism and tracking. Some scholars believe that prolonged exposure to the Eldar Forest has granted them a sixth sense: an instinctive awareness of the forest's emotional state, a faint pressure behind the eyes when danger threatens, or a warmth in the chest when the forest is at peace.
