| Luminous Butterflies | Bioluminescent butterflies that flit through the canopy, their patterns believed to carry messages from the Nature Spirits. Often seen during festivals. |
| Silver Hawk | A mythical guardian spirit with feathers as bright as moonbeams and eyes that reflect the stars. Guides lost travelers and protects the Elves from unseen dangers. Symbol of guidance and hope. |
| Forest Wolves | Intelligent, silver-furred wolves that form lifelong bonds with certain Sylvan Rangers. They serve as scouts, companions, and battle-partners. Communication occurs through empathic links. |

15.2 Lesser-Known Fauna
- Thornback Tortoise
A slow-moving reptile whose shell supports a living carpet of moss and tiny ferns. Seeing one cross your path is said to bring a decade of steady fortune. - Gloomwing Owl
A nocturnal raptor with dark, light-absorbing plumage. Its call echoes the Wind Whisperer's voice; Rangers treat its appearance as an omen of change. - Amber Fox
A golden-furred fox from the eastern autumnal groves, valued as a companion by scouts for its intelligence and keen senses. - Rootworm
A humble burrowing invertebrate essential to soil health, revered by Greenspeakers as one of the forest's most vital inhabitants. - Dewspinner Spider
The large, docile spiders whose silk provides the raw material for Sylvan textiles, bowstrings, and bridge cables. Dewspinners are carefully tended, never harmed, and their webs are harvested only after the spiders have abandoned them.
15.3 Companion Bonding
The bond between a Sylvan Elf and a forest companion is not a matter of taming or ownership but of mutual recognition. A Forest Wolf, for instance, will approach a Ranger it has chosen and press its forehead to the elf's palm, initiating an empathic link that deepens over years. Companion animals share their partner's lifespan to a degree
a bonded wolf may live three or four times its natural span. The death of a companion is mourned with the same gravity as the death of a family member, and the animal is buried beneath its partner's companion tree.
