Economy & Craft

Magic is woven into the fabric of Eldorian economic life. Every aspect of Eldorian technology and craftsmanship bears the imprint of sylvan magic — from enchanted longbows imbued with unerring accuracy to buildings warded against fire and decay, from farming tools spelled for better harvests to domestic appliances enhanced with magical energy. The Eldorians draw on renewable magical crystals and runes as energy sources, reducing their reliance on coal or wood and minimizing the environmental impact of their industry.

Eldorian craftsmanship divides broadly into two great traditions: woodcraft and metalwork. As master woodworkers, Eldorian artisans create everything from great timbered halls to intricate works of decorative art. They use magic to encourage the growth of the trees they harvest, ensuring a continuous supply without damaging the forest ecosystem. Their metalsmiths are equally celebrated, forging weapons and armor of exceptional quality from aetherite alloy, often incorporating enchanted ironbark wood into their construction — as seen in the famous equipment of the Ironbark Sentinels.

The enchanted goods produced by Eldorian guilds are prized across Landorya and constitute the realm's primary export. The Ministry of Crafts and Trade carefully regulates the terms of trade, negotiating agreements that ensure Eldoria receives the metals, gems, and mineral resources its smiths require. This dependency on imported raw materials is a recognized strategic vulnerability — one that opponents of the current trade regime within the Council of Regions invoke to argue for more aggressive resource-seeking policies, a position that remains controversial.

The Eldorian currency is the Silverleaf, minted in denominations that correspond to the four seasons — copper Spring-tokens for everyday transactions, silver Summer-marks for guild-level commerce, gold Autumn-seals for major contracts, and the rare platinum Winter-crown for inter-realm trade agreements. The royal mint at Sylvanhaven produces all official currency under the oversight of the Ministry of Crafts and Trade.
