External Interaction & Guardian Role

6.1 Neutral Archivists

Any faction may request access to the Great Library provided they sign the Codex of Respect (no copying of restricted texts, no weaponization of knowledge). The Scholars maintain a strict policy of informational neutrality: they will provide historical records to any party in a dispute, but they will not selectively withhold or emphasize information to favor one side.

6.2 Mediators & Peacekeepers

The Scholars frequently arbitrate disputes between neighboring cultures (e.g., the Drakonian-Sylvan Water Conflict). Their reputation for impartiality makes them trusted peace-keepers. The Mediation Hall in Sahar-Al-Mutaqaddim has hosted over 300 formal arbitrations in the last millennium. The most celebrated mediator in recent memory is Scribe-Arbiter Halima al-Wasta, who brokered the ceasefire in the Thornwood Border Dispute between the Sylvan Elves and the Nomads of Aurora.

6.3 Environmental Guardianship

Through Sand-Rotation and Water-Harvesting Terraces, they maintain the ecological balance of the desert, preventing over-exploitation of oasis resources. The Scholars have also established a network of Desert Sanctuaries
protected zones where no sand-mana extraction, excavation, or construction is permitted, allowing the natural desert ecosystem to thrive undisturbed.
