SeasonKey Events
Spring (Bloom-Wind)Desert blooms erupt across the Whispering Sands; the Festival of the First Bloom celebrates renewal. Sand-Elixir ingredients are harvested. Apprentices undergo their Initiation Rites at the Ritual Well.
Summer (Sirocco)The hottest months; scholars retreat to underground Cooling Chambers. Increased Mirage Powder production. Night-time astronomical observations are at their clearest. The Starfall Vigil watches for celestial omens.
Autumn (Dust-Tide)Sandstorms intensify; the Sand Guard is on high alert. The Whispering Night festival occurs when the desert's whispers are strongest. Ruin excavation season begins as heat subsides.
Winter (Mistral)Cool, clear nights ideal for stargazing. Water-harvesting terraces reach peak productivity. The Twin Solstice Festival (fireworks of sand-flame, exchange of Sand-Elixirs) is the year's grandest celebration.

13.2 The Bloom-Wind Season

Spring in the Whispering Sands is a brief but spectacular event. For approximately three weeks, dormant seeds buried in the dunes burst into life, carpeting the desert in vivid orange, violet, and white blossoms. The Scholars treat this period as sacred, suspending all non-essential excavation and sand-rotation to avoid disturbing the blooms. Alchemists work around the clock to harvest ingredients for Sand-Elixir, which can only be distilled from flowers picked during this narrow window.

13.3 The Sirocco Months

Summer under the Sirocco winds is the most challenging season. Surface temperatures can exceed 55 C, and even the Sand Guard reduces patrols to nighttime-only operations. The underground Cooling Chambers become the center of daily life, with scholars conducting research, teaching, and socializing in the cool subterranean spaces. It is also the prime season for astronomical observation, as the superheated air creates an unusually stable upper atmosphere, allowing the Astral Dome's instruments to achieve extraordinary clarity.
