Geography & Settlements

At the heart of Mystara lies the great Ley-Convergence, a subterranean nexus where multiple ley lines intersect in a configuration of immense and seemingly inexhaustible power. This convergence is the engine of Mystaran civilization, the source of the ambient energy that Mystarans harness for their magical workings, their enchanted constructs, and the maintenance of the wards that protect their hidden settlements. The Conclave of the Wise strictly regulates how much energy may be drawn from the Ley-Convergence at any given time, a precaution born of hard-won historical lessons about the consequences of overconsumption.

Mystaran settlements are hidden enclaves scattered across the mist-lands, each maintained by a local council of mages responsible for daily administration and the upkeep of protective magical wards. The largest of these is the Conclave Sanctum, a vast architectural complex built around a secondary ley node and housing the Conclave's governing chambers, the Veil Archives, and the primary Memory Spire cluster. The Thornwood Enclave lies deep within the most magically dense forest in Mystara and serves as the primary training ground for young Mystarans who have completed their Kindling. The Astral Observatory, built into the highest peaks of the mist-lands, houses the Ministry of Prophecy's most sensitive divination instruments and serves as the civilization's primary interface with celestial phenomena.

The Mist-Gate of Arevyn is the only officially sanctioned entry point for outsiders seeking access to Mystaran territory. It is tended by a permanent garrison of Arcane Guardians and staffed with diplomatic representatives from the Emissary's office who conduct initial evaluations of visitors. The Hall of the Five Mysteries, located at the precise center of the Ley-Convergence, is accessible only to Conclave members and is understood to be the most arcane-saturated location in all of Landorya.
