Physical Characteristics
2.1 Natural Form
In their natural state each Celestial is a vast, shimmering vortex of pure essence. Their "bodies" are composed of pulsating streams of light, stardust, and ethereal particles that constantly re-configure. The visual signature of each Celestial is unmistakable:
| Celestial | Domain | Colour Signature | Celestial Sigil |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chronos | Time | Soft silver-blue | Hourglass Spiral - a spiral of stars that winds inward |
| Aether | Space | Violet-white | Infinity Loop - two interlocking circles of aurora |
| Terra | Matter | Earthen amber | Hexagram of Form - six-pointed star of stone-light |
| Pyrope | Energy | Golden fire | Flaming Helix - a double-helix of fire-light |
| Nous | Thought | Iridescent teal | Open Eye - a radiant eye that watches from the heavens |
2.2 Avatar Manifestations
When the Celestials choose to manifest to mortals, they adopt Avatar Forms — humanoid silhouettes of liquid crystal threaded with luminous veins pulsing in their domain colour. These avatars are not permanent; they dissolve within hours, leaving behind a faint Resonance Imprint (a lingering warmth, a scent of starlight, a whisper of wind) that can persist for decades. Historical avatar appearances:
| Avatar | Era | Location | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Silver Wanderer (Chronos) | Age of Harmony | Celestial Mountains | Delivered the First Covenant to the Elder Races |
| The Violet Cartographer (Aether) | Age of Exploration | The Shattered Isles | Sealed three planar rifts after the Celestial Schism |
| The Amber Gardener (Terra) | Age of Growth | Eldar Forest | Blessed the Sylvan Elves with nature-binding magic |
| The Golden Herald (Pyrope) | Age of Fire | Drakon Peaks | Granted dragonfire to the First Dragon, Aurixia |
| The Teal Dreamer (Nous) | Age of Awakening | Mystara | Sparked consciousness in the proto-Mystaran seers |
2.3 Lifespan & Reproduction
The Celestials are timeless — they have existed since the first moment of creation and will endure until the cosmos itself unravels. They do not reproduce biologically; new Celestials arise only when the cosmic balance demands a new principle (e.g., the emergence of Thought as a fifth force required the birth of Nous). The last such event occurred before mortal history began.
