Rituals & Daily Practices

16.1 Overview of Sacred Traditions

The Eldorians have a rich tradition of sacred rituals and practices that help them connect with the divine, honor the forces of nature, and maintain balance in their lives.

16.2 The Solstice Ceremonies

On the longest and shortest days of the year, the Eldorians hold grand ceremonies to honor Solarius and Lunaria. The summer solstice is a joyous celebration of light, growth, and vitality, while the winter solstice is a solemn time of introspection, rest, and renewal.

16.3 The Elemental Rites

At the start of each season, the Eldorians perform rituals to honor the elemental spirits. These rites involve offerings, meditations, and sometimes even friendly contests, all designed to align the people with the natural cycles of the world.

16.4 The Rite of Balance

When an important decision must be made, or a dispute settled, the Eldorians conduct the Rite of Balance. This involves a complex ceremony where all sides of the issue are presented, and the participants meditate on the wisdom of the twin gods to find the most harmonious solution.

16.5 The Quest of Wisdom

All Eldorians are expected to undertake a solo journey at some point in their lives, usually as a rite of passage into adulthood. This quest involves traveling to a sacred site, meditating on a question or problem, and seeking guidance from the gods and spirits.

16.6 The Festival of Lights

On the night of the new moon, the Eldorians hold a festival where they light countless lanterns and float them on the rivers and lakes. This is a time to remember and honor the ancestors, to share stories and wisdom, and to celebrate the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth.

16.7 The Morning Thanksgiving

Each morning begins with a brief ceremony of gratitude to the forest spirits, reinforcing the Eldorians' connection to the natural world and setting the tone for the day's activities.

16.8 The Naming Ceremony

When an Eldorian child is born, a naming ceremony is held within the first month. The child is presented to the community at the base of the settlement's oldest tree, and the attending druid listens to the wind through the branches to divine the child's true name
a secret name known only to the child, their parents, and the druid, believed to carry the essence of the child's destiny. The public name is chosen by the parents and announced to the community with song and celebration.
