Daily Life
Daily life in the Dragon Empire of Aurixia varies enormously by caste and sub-type, yet fire touches every aspect of it. In the great forge-cities of the Drakon Range, Flame Wyrms labor alongside Drakonian craftsmen in the Runic Forge-Lattices, producing weapons, armor, and the rune-etched infrastructure that sustains the empire. Shard-Guild artisans spend their days calibrating Magma-Cores, inscribing flame-pulses into crystal tower relays, and maintaining the Drake-Rune Communication Network that connects the empire's far-flung eyries. Krakos the Smith is the most celebrated of these guild practitioners, known for producing Firebrand Swords so finely calibrated that they ignite only at the specific thought-signature of their bonded wielder.
For Ash Wyrms on the Ashen Plains, daily existence is quieter and more contemplative. These silver-grey dragons spend their long centuries in philosophical discussion, sculpting ash and cooled lava into monumental artworks that serve as both aesthetic expression and historical record — a living complement to the formal Crystal Archives. Nyssara the Ash Weaver is renowned for creating ash-tapestries that encode entire genealogies in their mineral grain patterns, readable only by trained Lore archivists.
Drake-Riders, the mortal knights bonded to individual dragons, occupy a prestigious middle ground between draconic and Drakonian society. Most are paired with Flame Wyrms, though the rarest and most gifted bond with Aether Drakes. Drake-Rider pairs serve in the Celestial Drakes, the empire's elite aerial cavalry, and are celebrated throughout Aurixian culture. Young Fledglings undergoing formal education are assigned Elder mentors who conduct lessons in flight, fire-control, and runic theory against the backdrop of the volcanic highlands, their breath-weapon precision honed through centuries of disciplined practice.
