External Interaction & Guardian Role
The Dragon Empire of Aurixia occupies a guardian position among the Elder Races that is simultaneously self-appointed and cosmologically mandated. Where the Celestial Order seeks equilibrium through contemplation and the Fey preserve the living forest through song, the dragons guard the planet's molten heart through force, fire, and an unyielding will to endure. This role is not merely symbolic; the Magma Drakes' management of lava flows and the Magma-Core reactors literally stabilize the mantle pressure that underlies the continent's geological stability.
The Order of the Scaled Guardians serves as the empire's primary instrument of external and internal enforcement. Its members — drawn from veteran Elders and elite Drake-Riders — patrol borders, monitor known Shadow Drake locations, enforce the Balance Codex, and serve as the empire's rapid-response force when the Ash-Siphon threshold is threatened anywhere in the realm. Beyond the empire's borders, Scaled Guardian patrols extend into shared territories with the Dwarven Forge-Clans and the contested Ashen Glades, serving as a deterrent against incursion by any outside force.
Aurixia's official diplomatic posture is one of sovereign distance — it does not seek expansion by conquest but will respond with overwhelming force to any threat to its core territories or to the mantle it considers its sacred charge. The empire accepts diplomatic envoys from most Landoryan peoples at the Heart-of-Fire Citadel, provided they observe the Protocol of Smoke: approaching unarmed, bearing a fire-source as a gesture of respect, and presenting their credentials to a Drake-Rider liaison before any council audience. Titan the Guardian and Obsidius the Judge oversee all formal adjudication of diplomatic claims.
