15.1 Domesticated & Semi-Domesticated Species

CreatureDescription

Obsidian-RavensIntelligent birds that carry rune-etched message capsules. Trained by the Drake-Runic Communication Network as secondary messengers.

15.2 Wild Species

CreatureDescription
Flame-MothsNocturnal pollinators attracted to lava glow. Their wings produce a fine luminescent dust used in alchemical fire-potions.
Magma-WormsUnderground creatures that aerate molten rock, crucial for the geological health of the Drakon Range. Protected by the Ash-Balance Doctrine.
Aether-DrakesRare, semi-celestial drakes that glide on aether currents at extreme altitude. Bonded only with the most skilled Drake-Riders; their breath combines fire and aetheric energy.
Fire-Briar BeetlesSmall, armored insects that tend Fire-Briar shrubs, spreading seeds through volcanic soil. Symbiotic with the ecosystem.
Embervine SerpentsArboreal snakes found in the Eternal Ember Forest. Their scales glow faintly with internal heat, and their venom has mild medicinal properties.
PyrefinchesSongbirds whose plumage shifts from red to gold with temperature. Primary seed-dispersers for Lava-Lilies.
Slag BeetlesLarge insects that consume volcanic slag and excrete purified mineral deposits. Essential to the recycling economy.
Storm Wyrm HatchlingsWild, unbonded juvenile Storm Wyrms that roam the Flame-Crest Highlands. Occasionally captured and bonded by the Aether-Drake Academy, though the process is dangerous.

15.3 Dragon Companions (The Bond)

Dragons themselves serve as companions to bonded Drakonian riders through Draconic Bonding
a sacred ritual that links a dragon's consciousness with a mortal's, granting shared senses, enhanced fire-magic, and telepathic communication. Only a fraction of Drakonians achieve this bond. The bond is lifelong; when the mortal partner dies, the dragon enters a period of mourning called the Grey Silence, which can last decades. Some bonded dragons never fully recover and become reclusive, withdrawing to the Eternal Ember Forest.
