Introduction

1.1 Overview

Short Description - The Dragon Empire of Aurixia is the oldest surviving polity of the Elder Races, founded in the Age of Myths by the primordial dragons themselves. It stretches across the volcanic spine of the Drakon Range, the basaltic plateaus of the Ashen Plains, the obsidian-coated coastlines, and the high-altitude Flame-Crest Highlands. The empire is the cradle of draconic magic, fire-forging technology, and the political hub for the Drakonians - the mortal descendants who inherit the dragons' legacy.

Type - Imperial Confederation (a federation of dragon-ruled provinces, each overseen by an Elder Council and a Dragon-Lord, with a mortal administrative layer).

1.2 Founding Principles

The Dragon Empire was established upon three immutable tenets known as the Triad of Scales:

  1. Fire is Life - dragonfire is not merely a weapon but the animating force of the world. Without it, the mantle cools, the soil hardens, and all living things perish.
  2. Memory is Duty - every event, every name, every ember must be preserved in the Crystal Archive. To forget is to betray the ancestors who shaped the mountains.
  3. Balance is Law - unchecked fire consumes; unchecked ambition corrupts. The Ash-Balance Doctrine is not merely policy but sacred covenant between dragonkind and the world itself.

These three tenets are carved into the Basalt Triad, a monumental three-sided obelisk standing at the entrance to the Heart-of-Fire Citadel, and every newly hatched dragon is brought before it within the first hour of life.

1.3 Place Among the Elder Races

Among the Elder Races of Landorya, the dragons hold a singular position: they are both the most ancient and the most physically formidable. Where the Celestial Order guards cosmic equilibrium through contemplation and the Fey preserve the living forest through song, the dragons guard the planet's molten heart through force, fire, and an unyielding will to endure. Their empire predates all mortal kingdoms by thousands of years, and their Crystal Archive contains records stretching back to the shaping of the first mountains.
