Rituals & Daily Practices

16.1 Daily Observances

RitualDescription
Rite of the First FlameDaily morning meditation: Drakonians breathe in volcanic warmth and attune to the fire within. Performed at dawn, facing the nearest volcanic peak.

16.2 Life-Cycle Rituals

RitualDescription
Bond-RitualThe sacred ceremony binding a Drakonian rider to a dragon. Requires the mortal to pass through Dragon-Fire unharmed (protected by a crystal ward) and the dragon to accept the mortal's scent. The bond is sealed with a shared blood-rune carved into both parties.
Hatching RiteWhen a dragon-egg cracks (an event that may occur only once per century), the entire empire halts. The High Dragon-Lord presides; the new hatchling is presented to the populace amid fireworks of pure dragon-fire.
Naming of the FlamePerformed one year after hatching. The hatchling's Draconic Sigil is officially read by the Grand Archivist, and the dragon's true name is spoken aloud for the first and only time before the Elder Council. Thereafter, the dragon is known by its public name.
Funeral
The Pyre of Memory
When a dragon dies (exceptionally rare), its body is cremated in the Heart-of-Fire Volcano. The resulting crystal residue is absorbed into the Crystal Archive, preserving the dragon's memories for eternity. Drakonian mortals are cremated on obsidian pyres; their ashes are mixed with crystal dust and interred in clan vaults.

16.3 Seasonal & Civic Rituals

RitualDescription
Rite of RenewalPerformed each spring: dragons channel controlled lava flows into ash-depleted lands, regenerating soil and mineral deposits. The rite requires synchronized fire-chanting by at least seven Elder Dragons.
Rite of AshesJudicial trial by fire for dragons accused of violating the Codex of Scales. The accused must endure a controlled fire-storm; survival and composure prove innocence.
Sylvan-Flame Accord DayAnnual feast commemorating peace with the Fey. Held under the Ash-Glade Canopy, featuring joint fire-dance and nature-song performances.
The Ember OathTaken by all Drakonian citizens upon reaching adulthood (age 16). The young adult stands before a communal flame and swears to uphold the Triad of Scales, pledging their life to fire, memory, and balance.
