18.2 Tidal Summits
Periodic gatherings where representatives from all coral cities share knowledge, artistic innovations, and ecological reports. These summits also serve as grand artistic exhibitions.
18.3 Inter-Generational Teaching
The Master-Apprentice Bond is central to Nereid culture. Masters pass down centuries of artistic technique, magical knowledge, and cultural wisdom through hands-on training and oral tradition. The bond is considered sacred.
18.4 Cross-Civilization Exchange
Nereids host underwater summits for surface-world diplomats. They share their art and music with other races and welcome artists to their underwater performance halls. Cultural exchange programs bring surface artists to study underwater aesthetics, while Nereid envoys travel to surface courts to perform and teach.
18.5 Coral Libraries
Vast repositories of knowledge carved into coral reefs. Information is encoded in both traditional inscriptions and living coral growth patterns. Librarians are highly respected scholars who maintain and interpret these living archives. The largest coral library, the Archive of Tides in the Coral Metropolis, contains records spanning the entire Age of Reefs and the Age of Song. The Deepwell Research Library specializes in geological and magical texts, while the Pelagara Musical Archive preserves the complete catalog of Nereid compositions.
18.6 The Scholar Exchange Program
The Pearl Court sponsors a formal exchange program in which Nereid scholars spend years living among surface civilizations, studying their knowledge systems and sharing Nereid expertise. In return, surface scholars are invited to study at Nereid institutions. The program has produced significant advances in cross-cultural understanding, including the development of shared magical frameworks that allow Nereid water magic and surface elemental magic to be combined.
