Restricted PracticesTidal Disruption (deliberately altering major ocean currents, which can cause ecological devastation), Abyssal Summoning (calling creatures from the deepest trenches without proper safeguards), and Sonic Assault (weaponizing sound to kill rather than incapacitate).

TrainingAll Nereids receive basic education in swimming, water magic fundamentals, and ocean ecology. Specialization begins through apprenticeship under a master practitioner, typically lasting 20-30 years. Mastery is recognized when the apprentice creates a work that the guild acknowledges as a significant contribution to their art.

17.2 The Path of the Sonar-Singer

The most respected magical profession in Nereid society, Sonar-Singing combines music, combat, communication, and healing into a single discipline. Training begins at the Grand Conservatory of Pelagara and takes a minimum of 50 years. Sonar-Singers serve as diplomats, warriors, healers, and artists depending on their specialization. A fully trained Sonar-Singer can detect objects through echolocation, project concussive force through directed sound, calm emotional distress through soothing harmonics, and communicate across vast distances using deep-water resonance channels.

17.3 Healing Tides Practice

Nereid medicine is based on the principle that water is the source of all life and therefore the most potent healing medium. Undersea Healers manipulate water within a patient's body to accelerate natural recovery, purge toxins, and repair tissue. Herbal remedies derived from moonkelp, coralbloom moss, and Abyssal Lotus supplement magical healing. The most skilled Healers can mend broken bones in hours and neutralize poisons within minutes. Healing Tides practitioners are trained at the Coral Metropolis's Hall of Restoration, a hospital and teaching institution maintained by the Ministry of Ocean Harmony.
