Architecture and Living Spaces

Drakonian homes and fortresses are built to withstand attack and radiate strength, with angular lines and fire motifs. Cities are built into the sides of volcanoes or underground, with structures made of obsidian and steel.

Dragon Temples and Sacred Sites

The Drakonians build awe-inspiring temples and shrines that blend seamlessly with the volcanic landscape, often carved directly into the living rock of the mountains and infused with the heat and energy of the molten earth.

The Obsidian Citadel of Ignatius

This massive, black glass fortress is built within the caldera of an active volcano and serves as the main center of worship for Ignatius. It is home to the Eternal Flame, a massive bonfire that is said to have been burning since the dawn of time, fueled by offerings of precious oils and dragon bones.

The Five-Spired Sanctuary of Tiamat

This grand temple features five towering spires, each one dedicated to one of the five elemental dragon clans. At the center of the sanctuary is a great, circular chamber where the Drakonians hold their most important ceremonies and where the high priests of Tiamat commune with the goddess.

The Platinum Arena of Bahamut

This vast, open-air arena is carved into the side of a mountain and is used for ritual combat, honor duels, and tests of strength and skill. At the center of the arena stands a towering statue of Bahamut, his wings spread wide and his eyes seeming to judge the worth of those who fight before him.

The Obsidian Maze of Nidhogg

This twisting, labyrinthine complex is cut deep into the heart of a dormant volcano and is filled with deadly traps, vicious beasts, and tests of strength and rage. Drakonian berserkers come here to train, to prove their worth, and to commune with the destructive power of Nidhogg.

The Serpentine Archives of Jormungandr

This vast, subterranean library is filled with ancient tomes, arcane artifacts, and the preserved remains of legendary dragons. It is here that Drakonian sorcerers and lore-keepers come to study, to unravel the secrets of magic and dragonlore, and to seek the whispered guidance of Jormungandr.

Infrastructure Networks

Drakonian infrastructure centers on the volcanic forges that form the backbone of their civilization. Lava channels are directed and controlled through a network of obsidian sluice gates to power forge-complexes and heat residential quarters. Obsidian mirror relay stations provide long-distance communication across the volcanic highlands. Roads are paved with heat-treated basalt, capable of withstanding the extreme temperatures and seismic activity of the region.

Residential Architecture

Common Drakonian dwellings are carved into cooled lava flows or constructed from interlocking basalt blocks, reinforced with steel beams. Homes are typically multi-level, with forge-workshops on the ground floor, living quarters above, and a rooftop platform used for dragon-watching and signal communication. Windows are rare (to minimize heat loss during eruption seasons) and replaced by ventilation shafts that circulate naturally heated air through the structure. The wealthiest Drakonians commission homes with walls inlaid with Pyrantine, which emits a warm golden glow and a gentle harmonic hum.
