Drakonians provide a counterbalance to other powers and are often called upon in times of war or crisis. Their mastery of dragonfire and advanced metallurgy makes them indispensable when major threats arise, and their Dragon Guard has been deployed in several continent-wide emergencies throughout Landorya's history.

Guardian Role
While the Drakonians are not traditionally seen as guardians in the nurturing sense, they fulfill a critical defensive role in Landorya's balance of power. Their control over the volcanic regions and the dragon population ensures that these immensely powerful creatures remain allied with
rather than hostile to
the civilized races. The Obsidian Order maintains an ancient pact with the great dragons, pledging to protect dragon nesting sites and hatcheries in exchange for the dragons' cooperation and the continuation of the Dragonsoul Pact tradition. Without this stewardship, the dragons of Drakon could pose an existential threat to all of Landorya.
The Dragon Wardens
Within the broader guardian role, a specialized order known as the Dragon Wardens operates independently of the military hierarchy. Led by the elder dragon-bonded priestess Myrathis Embervow, the Wardens patrol the remote nesting grounds and monitor the health of dragon populations across all five elemental clans. They serve as mediators between wild dragons and Drakonian settlements, resolving territorial disputes before they escalate into violence.
