Economy & Craft

Crafts and Trade

Drakonians are known for their peerless weapons, armor, and metalwork. Drakonian crafts include unbreakable weapons, magic-infused armor, and intricate metalwork.

Exports

Drakonian exports include weapons, armor, rare metals, superior alloys, and enchanted items forged with dragonfire. Their Firebrand Swords and Scaled Shields are prized across Landorya.

Imports

The volcanic homeland produces scarce food and organic materials. Drakonians import food, timber, textiles, herbs, and other resources from trading partners including the Eldorians, Islanders, and Nomads of Aurora.

Magical Artifacts and Practices

Drakonians create powerful weapons and talismans infused with fire magic and draconic essence. Notable artifacts include the Amulet of Fire Resistance, commonly used by adventurers exploring volcanic regions.

Trade Routes

Drakonian trade relies on overland caravans and, increasingly, on partnerships with the Islanders who provide sea transport. The Nomads of Aurora serve as intermediary merchants between the Drakonians and distant races.

Guilds and Craft Organizations

The Ministry of the Forge oversees all craft production, with master smiths holding positions of great prestige. Apprenticeships in the forge are fiercely competitive, and a master smith's endorsement carries as much weight as a military commendation.

Currency and Wealth

The Drakonian currency system is based on standardized metal tokens stamped at the forges of the Obsidian Citadel. The denominations are:

DenominationMetalValue
CinderIronBase unit
DrakeCopper-alloy10 Cinders
FlameSilver-alloy100 Cinders
CrownGold-alloy1,000 Cinders
Pyrantine MarkPyrantine10,000 Cinders

The Pyrantine Mark is rarely used in everyday commerce and functions primarily as a unit of account for trade agreements with foreign nations and the settlement of debts between clans. Wealth in Drakonian society is measured not only in currency but in the quality of one's weapons, the prestige of one's dragon bond, and the number of personal sigils earned through great deeds.
