Social Structure & Interaction
Family and Kinship
Drakonian clans are tightly knit and fiercely loyal, with honor and reputation being tied to the family name. The five elemental clans (fire, water, earth, air, and shadow) form the broadest social divisions, each with their own internal hierarchies and traditions.
Social Hierarchy
- Lord of the Flame: Supreme ruler and head of the Obsidian Order
- Obsidian Order: The ruling council of the most powerful Drakonians
- Dragon Tamers and Master Smiths: The cultural and professional elite
- Dragon Guard: Elite warriors who form the military aristocracy
- Clan Elders: Keepers of tradition and arbiters of honor disputes
- Warriors and Craftsmen: The backbone of Drakonian society
- Apprentices and Youth: Those undergoing training and the Ascension Challenge
Interaction with the Environment
Drakonians see their harsh environment as a crucible that forges them into the strongest of races. They strive to conquer and control their surroundings.
Interaction with Wildlife and Nature
Drakonians have a deep respect for the power of the dragons and the volcanoes, seeing them as the source of their strength. They strive to harness and control this power, rather than live in harmony with it.
Cultural Role in Landorya
Drakonians play a vital role in Landorya as master weaponsmiths and fierce warriors. Every aspect of Drakonian life is infused with their values of strength, honor, and the pursuit of glory.
The Five Elemental Clans
Each of the five elemental clans maintains distinct traditions, territories, and specializations:
- Fire Clan (Ignathi): The largest and most politically powerful clan, centered around the Obsidian Citadel. They dominate the military and the Obsidian Order.
- Earth Clan (Thorruk): Based primarily at Forgepeak, the earth clan produces the majority of Drakon's master smiths and architects. Their magic focuses on shaping stone and metal.
- Air Clan (Zerathi): The smallest clan, whose members are disproportionately represented among the Vyrathi (winged Drakonians). They specialize in aerial combat and weather-sensing.
- Water Clan (Marathi): Concentrated around Cinderharbor and the coastal regions, the water clan manages trade, diplomacy, and naval defense. Their apparent contradiction

is explained in mythology as Tiamat's reminder that all elements are united. - Shadow Clan (Umbrathi): Based in Umbraholm, the shadow clan provides intelligence operatives, scouts, and practitioners of shadow magic. They are the most insular of the five clans.
